is there anyway to get onlink to play my music (most of it is mp3)
i thought i saw a custom music option but how do i import the music and where to?
(can i use shortcuts that lead to the music files rather than copying whole tracks i dont really have the disk space to disk this)

Onlink does not play .mp3 files.

Onlink plays .uni files (it may also play .ogg files, as Uplink did, but I don't know about that).

Just change "data.dat" in your Onlink install folder to "data.zip", unzip it, and then add any .uni music files to data/music. Onlink will then, presumably, play "custom" music.*

*: I don't know if this actually works, having never imported "custom" music into Onlink, nor having ever seen a file with the .uni extension outside of Onlink.

EDIT: Forgot to put quotation marks around "custom".

Hm. Perhaps we should add support for mp3...

    That's a bit expensive, isn't it?

We've already been through this. The answer has been no the last three times we've discussed it.

I would not be opposed to OGG support though.

Isn't MP3 supported by SDL_mixer? We basically have 99% of the work -done-.

I guess it does, but it needs another library.

    We'll talk.

I've got an awesome solution. Go into options, turn off ingame music. Alt+Tab out/Window the game, open iTunes/WinAmp/WMP.

    Works for me.

Obviously we are talking about an ingame mp3-player. Your "solution" is pretty obvious anyway :p

I was trying to question why you'd need an ingame mp3 player basically.

I would have thought anyone who's played Uplink/Onlink enough to want an mp3 player would either be immersed enough to be undeterred, or never be totally immersed again.

I always play with Uplink/Onlink windowed...I get more immersed because it feels like it's actually me hacking out of my own PC.

Windowed is best...it seems to go a bit faster, especially when you have a large resolution (like 1440x900 or something).
