Can anyone explain.

They're optimized builds of the game based on your CPU architecture, or something. SSE and SSE2 are for Intel Pentium CPUs. X86 is for AMD and anyone else, I think.

Run Onlink and check the log output. It will tell you if your processor supports those commands.

And from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streaming_SIMD_Extensions:

AMD eventually added support for SSE instructions, starting with its Athlon XP processor.

If you're computer doesn't have SSE it most likely can't run Onlink, and chances are it has SSE2 as well. Do your research FinalWarrior.

Do my research? Don't you think I did that before I posted?

x86 works on any Intel or AMD processor.
SSE works on the Intel Pentium III and all later Intel processors.
SSE2 works on the Intel Pentium M (and Pentium 4, simultaneously) and all later Intel processors.

No one said they didn't.

But I doubt Wikipedia can tell the OP which .exe to use.

Google might, though.

Post subject:  Onlink SSE?

ok there are 3 exe's...

Onlink sse 0.1.2

Onlink sse2 0.1.2

Onlink x86 0.1.2

I have the 1.60 patch installed.

What are the difference bettween 3 exes?

Post subject:  Re: Onlink SSE?

SSE is a special instruction set supported by certain CPUs
Pentium IIIs Support SSE
Pentium 4s Support SSE2 and sometimes SSE3
Core Duos and Core 2 Duos have SSE3 support

Athlon XPs have SSE
Athlon 64s SSE2 sometime SSE3
Phenom Athlon 64 X 2 and any other recent CPU have SSE3 support

Post subject:  Re: Onlink SSE?

To clarify, if you have a recent processor, use the sse2 exe. ;)

Since a topic about this already exists in Onlink Banter, I'm just going to merge the two. Next time please use the Forum Search before making a topic! :)

Also, a tip. You can get CPU-Z and check if your processor supports SSE or SSE2.
