Post subject:  .UNI files topic again and how to modify data.dat?

I know, there exists allready a thread addressing the topic. But my questions are a little bit different:

The uni-Format seems to me proprietary, I can not load it into Modplug Tracker, an open source sequencing tool. Also loading the file into a hex editor does not give a glue. .MOD-files and friends seems not to work with actual release (0.1.2).

Miah: Is the music playlist hardcoded to the blob? Because I replaced all unis in data.dat with other .MOD's and they will not be found nor played.

The next question on topic is: How the data.dat should exactly be structured? I extract the whole contents to a temporary folder and modified some files. Finally I create an archive (tried 7zip->.zip, WinZip->.zip and Winrar->.rar) containing the new content and rename it to data.dat. After starting onlink an error pops up and the debug.log contains the following lines:
Code:

And another point:

Could you please remove the music file "plugnfuk.uni" from data.dat, because it has an endless loop, which is almost bothersome.

Thanks

1. I thought that you could open the data.dat file by renaming it to a .rar extension and then extracting the files.
2. In your debug log, you seem to be missing the dungeon font file. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game fresh to see if the file gets installed.

The file can be extracted even without changing the extension (with 7-zip at least ).

Have you thought about the audio options to disable specific music?

I think you got this crash because you tried to rezip the modified data. You don't have to zip the modified data, all you need to do is put the modified data in the right folder in your Uplink/Onlink directory. It's the same when you install new gateways, you put them in the right folder, you don't have to extract data.dat and graphics.dat and rezip the files with the new gateways.
