i just had an interesting problem.

i hacked the uplink internal services and successfully got the agent list, deleted all of the logs etc and seemed to have goten away with it. (sped up the timer for like 24 hours) so everything seemed fine. but then when i went to log back onto the internal services machine they started a trace on me instantly and disconected me and i get cought....

but that shoudln't have hapend as that time i had done no malicious activity. any ideas ?

I seem to remember that happening in Vanilla Uplink too. It doesn't make a lot of sense though.

Annoying as hell. It happens only too often with the Uplink bank as well. I'm confident it'll be fixed in the future, though.

Also, sometimes when I log in on the Internal Services Machine, I may accidentally log in using the admin's name and pass. It'd be handy if it could be removed from the known passwords lists.

But really IMO getting the agent list is pretty much useless, since the security systems are upgraded constantly and you buy that level 20 bypasser only to notice it has become obsolete just in a few seconds. And don't say "use the killers", they may kill the security systems, but they kill me long before that :-/

I believe that the security systems should only upgrade every 2 or 3 months (because that sounds realistic). And even then, the corporate will decide when they will upgrade. (For instance, give them a bank account somewhere, and unless they don't have enough money, they can't upgrade.)
