I am having tons of trouble solving the VSEC puzzles. I can do VD PIN ones ok, but these are killing me. How do I chase lights on these? Thanks

You can't chase the lights on a VSEC puzzle. VSEC puzzles must be solved within a certain number of moves (I believe 11 is the most moves you can make).

I think I've stumbled upon one which took 12 moves, I'm not sure though

On topic: <snip> <-- a ten point clue. I read about a half dozen pages about how to solve the VSEC (or mini lights out, whichever), but the plain instructions didn't help (since VSEC must be solved in the minimum possible number of moves) and algebra isn't really my stuff :/

I did search forum and read all posts about vdpin. There were no specific vsec posts i found and I could only find help on the lights out game from google. Don't know why you assumed I hadn't looked. Also saw the vsec section on the wiki but the images are not there so it doesn't help much.

Thanks for the link. I'll hafta check it out. seems like it may help me some :D

Forgot to mention, but in case you haven't already noticed, VSEC systems wrap on all sides. That is, a light on the edge(s) of the game map, if switched, will switch the light(s) on the opposite edge(s). VDPIN does not do this, which is part of the reason why you can chase lights on VDPIN.

if the vsec is proving a little too challenging for you punters, then there is a patch you can make to your EXE to allow you to just keep trying... or disable having to do it at all

Hmm, does <snip> work?
VSEC ~= Lights Out Keychain
