Strange. phpBB's CAPTCHA is enabled for registrants, and we've got the latest phpBB version. I guess I'll need to add an additional CAPTCHA plugin or something to stop these buggers. |

Okay, did some SQL wizardry and I think I've flushed all the bots from the forum. I'm working on adding a better CAPTCHA. |

All done. If we start seeing spambots registering again, I'll just add some new fonts to the CAPTCHA. |

maybe having the onlink game itself giving you a code that allows you activate something in your account so u can post might be able to stop spammer bots? don know just a wild idea.. |

but if you think about it spam bots only just sign up then post post post. they wouldn't download the game so if u had a secondary code that came from the game only it would stop them... still wild idea but atleast it would make the people download the game in order to do any post.. then they'll try out the game anyway if they are random people that just wanted to post and they might (should) end up loving the game thus increasing the game's (and forum's) fame. still wild idea. but the atomic bomb was a wild idea |

You better take the wild choice, it is an excellent idea against spam bots. Captcha isn't a good solution. Trust me, it's very easy to crack them. You can find a lot information about it on google if you don't trust me. We better taken the "wild" idea. Thought, it will make less users come to the forum. But as long as this forum isn't really contact by spammers, then we don't need the solution right now Friendly greetings |

You can try using gmt's uber captcha script (which can even be unreadable by humans at times If anyone wants to see the awesomeness of it look here: http://bbbbbeck.xavt.com/scripts/3.php Type gmt2001 in the username box and then click out of the box to make the image show. GET PAST THAT YOU RETARDED BOTS! Another idea is to require answering of a simple question such as What color is a granny smith apple's skin? or What is tw0 mult1plied by 5? because the bot is probably not going to be programmed to be able to answer those (notice how i confuse the bot in the second question by using leet speak) |

First of all, captcha's isn't an option. there is probably a way to defeat it. (Checking on color of text, displacement, removing background ... A lot of things can be done to the image and they will find it.)If anyone wants to see the awesomeness of it look here: http://bbbbbeck.xavt.com/scripts/3.php Type gmt2001 in the username box and then click out of the box to make the image show. Everything that can be made by humans, will be broken by humans. About those questions, you'll have to make an array of questions. The spammer would just get all the questions that are in the database (by reloading the page billions times) and give an answer to them. About that L33T speak: It's a more "clever" idea. But it can be broken too. |

If your CAPTCHA is not a widespread one, it's unlikely someone will break it unless they're specifically targeting your forum. And in that case, you've got bigger problems. If I start seeing bots with the phpBB 3.0 captcha, I'll swap it out like I did with the phpBB 2.0 one. |
