Hey guys & gals,
I've just had a frustrating time in beta 2.
After playing all day through work I had the best gateway with all 500ghz processors and had just finished grabbing the revelation files off of the ARC lan.
I had already entered the uplink internal services machine and grabbed the agent lists. As we've all experienced, after cracking a password the password and user name stays in the password list. As such, each time logging on to the uplink internal services system I had to be careful to only click my user name in the passwords list. For some reason, the password for the uplink internal services system never changed after weeks and somehow the order of the passwords was switched, leaving admin first and my user second. I didn't notice this and accidentally logged in as admin without a bounce.
So a few minutes later my motion sensor goes red and I nuke it. Awesome, I get back and I have an activist neuromancer rating. I go to log on to uplink server and CRAP! I did it again! This time, though, I have entry level gateway and no nuke. I couldn't avoid losing the account. Now my best uplink/onlink game is over for no good reason
So, I was wondering if it'd be possible to delete passwords from lists, perhaps by right clicking on them?
Also, I have a few other comments/observations.
First, I enjoyed doing the new ARC lan
Second, I noticed some strange things while entering the uplink internal services system. I had purchased all the top of the line bypass software after doing a bank hack and was ready to steal the user lists. I connected up through my bounces to the uplink server and ... all but one or two of my bypassers weren't high enough level. I connected back to the uplink server and I was able to buy even higher versions of the bypass software for some but not all types. I tried again to hack in, and the versions of the security systems had increased again! Sometimes I would connect to the uplink server to buy software and the highest version of firewall bypass for example would be v5, then after disconnecting and immediately reconnecting it would be v12. It ended up taking 10 minutes and at least half a million credits to buy the right software.
Third ... some of the name servers are out of control. I used a memory editor to give myself the HUD connection analysis and the upgrade that shows versions and my very first mission was against a server with v5 (!!) of every security system. One in every four DNS missions is against a server with just a monitor, otherwise they have 4-6 modes of security. These should be level 8 missions not level 3 for 2-3 thousand credits.
Hope this helps,
