i really want to start programming, but i dont want to start a language that isnt that effective. i also want to help with the programming of onlink. any recommendations? i'm kind of hoping you can give me some comparisons. can u? thanks. |

If you want to help with Onlink, learn C++. It is still the most widely used language, and the one that Uplink/Onlink was written in. Personally, I prefer C#, since it has several key features that make it easier to use, but it suffers from a performance loss, since it is not run natively, but interpreted at runtime. But unless you're working with high performance stuff, it's not really a big deal. It's also not too big a jump to learn C++, since they are both C-based languages. Just don't use Java. |

thanks. it probably wouldnt be too high performance anyway. i have a pretty slow pc (i finally got one, although i dont have internet) so i'd be working o fit those constraints. i have a dell optiplex 320 with 250 meg of ram now. |
