If this was slashdot you'd totally be getting modded to -5: Bastard right now.

Oh hush, you. They're not making fun of you. They're just taking things further so we can all have a good laugh.

You should join in. :D

Tycho and the others love to play around with stuff like that.

I believe they've done it to me a few times, dunno. Check my post history.

Okay, okay. I have to admit, I've had many good laughs with the people here.

Hey, (this is just a thought) we should start a joke topic in the general forum. :D

I believe a "Forum Games" forum would be more appropriate. But I doubt it'll happen, because forums are not face to face, there is no emotion in some of these people's posts, making their jokes, err... dry.

I've been known to have a dry sense of humor.

Rickton: Thanks for the link, im looking into it now. I've also obtained the source for Wolfenstien, Quake, and Doom. I thought it might be a good source to teach me about mapping and using game engines.
From what I've heard about those engines, sure, they'll teach you something, but the information is outdated. They're not even real 3D engines. Sure, they're solid code, but that's just it. They're solid code. One thing I've been told consistently is that looking at other's code is not a way of getting any better at coding yourself. Sure, I scrap pieces of code from other people sometimes, but I make sure that I know exactly what they mean, and how they tick. (and that's only if I'm going out of my mind trying to figure out something)

I've looked at some big chunks of code (think Tremulous) and have just gotten lost in them. Sure, I can peel apart small things that might be vaguely useful on the moon, but other than that, it's worthless for me.

I don't want you to be discouraged from looking at that code, but just know that you're not gonna make a Quake-style engine JUST from looking at Quake code.

And an idea for a first project: text-based / GUI Tetris.
