I've a question.
While updating from a7 r45 to
Quote:
a7 r220
to a8 etc etc..
would i lose my profile progress?

(Sounds paradoxically but progress resetting would be great to excluse any imbalance causes)

Yes, you would. The main change from a7 to a8 is the change of savefile formats. We'll be using an XML style from now on so we'll have better option to patch userfiles.

Not certain, though I could smack Miah around a bit. I think the current master branch is ready to be released as a8.

Lies! Heresy! Burn him!

*cough*

Anyhow, it's nice to hear the next alpha is nearing completion. *avoids mention of any dates/timescales*

We disabled the new stuff that we aren't fully satisfied with or don't want to be made available until the 0.2.0 beta builds.

Not certain. We didn't even plan on doing alpha builds.

I connected to the Global Criminal Database through 30-35 hosts, bypassed all systems, hacked through Elliptic, VDPIN and Password Authorisation and as the active trace started i was tracked down immediately (But not instantly). That took 3 seconds but the sound alert was calm like it should be according to my overbounced connection. First i thought that it's an old Uplink after-pause bug but then i was disconnected with message that Remote Host kicked me out. After that motion tracker turned red and i had no choice expect nuking my gateway (File Server 110k, just bought :( ). When i confirmed destroying (yea, that wasnt so easy) i had Onlink Crash, what saved me from losing gateway, coz after running game again i saw that i hadn't joined GCD yet.

So is it known bug?

Thanks.

EDIT: ehh.. okay. Apparently i have to destroy it. Damn it.

EDIT2: And now i found out that there is no way to nuke gateway. I have crash everytime i do. Have been caught, totally upset. Loginning to Bugzilla.

But nice of you to involve the community and the abiding fans. Thanks for letting us taking part in the progress.

To for why people might want to use older releases:
(e.g. @ FinalWarrior Griffinhart) because they are stable for instance. Or some might have liked the features and lesser complexity of an older release better and would like to play that easier game a while before maybe moving to the more complex newer builds?
That's what I could think of.
One might still want to play onlink v0.1.2 while testing 0.2.0 for bugs alongside.
That's why I would prefer to find a list of downloadable and installable stables builds and the latest beta in the download section of onlink-mod.net, along with a short comment on the changes and features.

See, I don't get the "stability" argument. (In my experience) 0.2.0a7r45 already is stable - at least, as long as you don't try nuking your gateway.

But I get the "less complex" argument.

As long as

By the way... is deleting /sys equal to nuking?

No, see, for me, "unstable" means "(ir)regularly crashing for no apparent reason". So Fallout 3 1.6.0.22 (hell, FO3 from 1.1.0.35 upwards) is unstable; Onlink 0.2.0a7r45 isn't.

And I haven't tried deleting sys, so I dunno if that'll cause Onlink to crash. Attempting to activate the Gateway Nuke does, however.
