VDPIN
From Ferrous Moon Research
A new security system - the VDPIN - is quickly gaining popularity among corporations that want to further secure their systems. The VDPIN requires just that - a numerical sequence. The problem with this is that you will never have the right sequence.
To crack these screens manually, you will require the VDPINView HUD upgrade, which will allow you to view the status of the VDPIN system. Alternatively, you can use the VDPIN_Cracker to automatically solve the VDPIN.

Tutorial
For this tutorial, we're going to be cracking the Network Computers International Bank.
Step 1: Access the admin panel for the bank server. Step 2: Access VDPIN. You should now see a panel with blue, green and red colored squares. Step 3: Your objective is to make all of the squares turn blue. This is done by 'chasing the lights'* Step 4: Don't forget about the trace being run on your Gateway.
* To chase the lights, you continuously click on the lights below the lights that are still on, working progressively row by row. This effectively brings the on lights to the bottom row. From here, you repeat the process until you get all the lights out. The tri-state systems (systems with three color lights) can be solved using a similar method, however it differs slightly.
VDPin Cracker
An option if you're lazy (and rich) you can make this process go MUCH faster by using VDPIN_Cracker v3.0 (50,000 Cr.). Simply purchase the program, navigate to the VDPIN and press go! Make sure you have plenty of bounces though, because it can take a while.
VSEC
VSEC is a high-security variant of VDPIN, with a number of differences. First, it involves a 4x4 grid instead of the 5x5 grid used in normal VDPIN systems. Second, there are no edges, that is to say, every cell is joined by the cell next to it. Third, VSEC only allows a certain number of keystrokes before it "locks down" for a few in game hours.
There are two types of VSEC systems. The difference is that one of them only allows you to press buttons that are lit, making it somewhat harder.
