Agent Gateways
Not much information available at the time of writing. You are an Uplink Agent with your own Uplink gateway, which would fall under this heading.
Auxiliary Gateways
Onlink offers you the ability to purchase Auxiliary Gateways, they currently can be bought and act as file servers for yourself.
Bank Servers
Bank servers are usually owned by a company, and are used to complete transactions and receive loans.
Backup Servers
Not much information available at the time of writing, right now it seems that Backup servers would be owned by large corporations. If you are given a mission to destroy a database, you must be sure that their are no backup systems with a copy of the database.
Gateway Systems
A gateway system will probably function as a NAT (Network Address Translator) in-game, a system that hides several servers or personal computers behind it. In such a situation, the gateway system will probably have to remain hacked and logged into; theoretically, this would grant access to all the machines behind it, which may or may not have their own protections in place.
Name Servers
Name Servers are owned by corporations and they allow others to access their machines. If you were to hack into a name server, you could change all the contacts linked with that ip/domain/company.
ISPs
Personal Computers
Personal Computers are the computers of everyone in the game, not just Uplink Agents, but EVERYONE. Using the PCForce tool, you will be able to hack into Personal Computers.
