HUD Upgrades

As well as the three "vanilla" Uplink HUD upgrades (HUD_ConnectionAnalyser, HUD_IRC-Client and HUD_LanView), Onlink offers the new HUD_PCForce which allows access to Personal Computers over the AWAN.

Gateways

Uplink agents have good reasons to be mindful of their privacy. Uplink corporation provides rental of gateway machines to agents. Agents connect from their own computer to their gateway, which is often equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software. Most importantly, Uplink Corporation keeps only the minimum details on who is using a gateway, providing an agent with an extra layer of privacy if any activities are traced to their gateway machine.

An Uplink agent is likely to encounter a range of third-party computer systems as part of their work. Some of them are mundane, whereas some may be protected by multiple levels of high-security.
